The organization sought to build a comprehensive competency framework across approximately 30 roles spanning business and corporate functions. As the organization evolved, roles had expanded and changed, creating the need for a consistent way to define the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and leadership capabilities required for success in each role.

The engagement focused on defining behavioural, functional, technical, and leadership competencies, along with clear behavioural indicators for every role. The framework was designed to strengthen talent decisions, identify capability gaps, and establish a structured roadmap for capability development aligned with business priorities.

An end-to-end competency mapping engagement was undertaken to build a robust competency architecture and establish a sustainable talent framework for the organization.

The engagement included:

  • Discovery & Alignment: Leadership interviews, focus groups, and review of existing roles, KPIs, and business processes to identify capability priorities aligned with business goals.

  • Competency Framework Design: Development of a three-tier competency architecture covering behavioural, functional/technical, and leadership competencies, supported by proficiency levels and behavioural indicators.

  • Role-wise Competency Mapping: Mapping of competencies and required proficiency levels across approximately 30 roles, resulting in role-specific competency matrices.

  • Capability Assessment: Design of a multi-method assessment approach, including self-assessments, manager assessments, assessment centres, and 360° feedback for managerial roles.

  • Gap Analysis & Insights: Identification of competency gaps at the role, function, and organizational levels through capability heatmaps and gap reports.

  • Development Planning: Creation of Individual Development Plan (IDP) frameworks and role-based learning journeys aligned with business priorities.

The engagement established a structured competency architecture that created a common language for talent across the organization and laid the foundation for more consistent people and talent decisions.

The framework enabled the organization to:

  • Define clear competency expectations and behavioural indicators across approximately 30 roles.

  • Identify capability strengths and development priorities at the role, function, and organizational levels.

  • Strengthen recruitment, performance management, leadership development, and succession planning.

  • Build an integrated capability development roadmap aligned with long-term business priorities.
